Min.1019 Marylebone Carriage Shed (Multiple Units)
The first stage of the new services will be introduced on 12th June, and the depot must be available for maintenance purposes by 1st June.
Mr. Varley undertook to investigate position regarding the washing machine.
Min.1021 Kirkdale (Multiple Units)
Chairman asked that layout plan for fuelling installation be agreed by next meeting and that submission be ready by 31st March. This would allow six months before delivery of units in September.
Discussed memorandum of meeting held on 20th January, which gave programme for transfer of Marylebone units from other schemes, for carrying out bogie modification and for refurbishment prior to introduction of services.
Mr. Baker said that trial bogie modifications were being made on similar vehicles from the Manchester/Liverpool services. Modifications to the Marylebone cars would be started five weeks after these tests had proved succesful, at the rate of one unit a week.
The programme provided for vehicles to be refusrbished at the same time, but it was pointed out that this work must be carried out whether the bogies were modified or not.
Mr. Gould will look into the proposal to bring in diesel timings on the High Wycombe services in November.
It was reported that the two 4-car units (one working, one spare) introduced on the Marylebone service on 23rd January were working satisfactorily.
Chairman said the 10 L.M.R. 3-car sets for this service were to follow the sets being built for the N.E.R. by the Birmingham Carriage & Wagon Co. Delivery was expected to be completed by September, 1961.
It was noted that no arrangements had yet been made with the N.E.R. regarding commencement of the services.
The L.M. vehicles would be maintained at Newton Heath.
Statements called for in Min.828(1) of last meeting are being prepared.
