The sets were delivered in lined loco green with whiskers, the power cars carried the coaching crest roundel. The image shows this in Marylebone station, date unknown. Steve Davies Collection.
Small yellow panels replaced the whiskers from about mid-1962. Seen with a yellow panel is a Marylebone bound set at Rugby (Great Central) on October 17, 1964. Nigel Walls.
Corporate all blue livery appeared in the late 1960s with full yellow ends. A rail blue set is seen at Diggle on 21/10/72. John Reddyhoff.
In 1978 refurbished livery appeared when this work was done to the vehicles. This refurbished set, M51653 M59669 M59652 and M51864, carries the livery when working the 'Quaintonian' charter at Quainton Road on 28th August 1978. Robert Frise.
The application of refurbished livery to the class was short lived, with blue / grey appearing in 1979. It was a period when mixed liveried sets were very common, a four-car set could have three different liveries (plain blue, refurbished, blue/grey). A blue grey set is seen stabled between duties at Aylesbury on January 8th 1984. Martyn Hilbert.
Now based at Tyseley, DMBS 51876 carries a WM sticker on the front of its cab when seen at its home on 07.06.1987. Andy Cole.
When the NSE branding was introduced, stickers were applied to the cabs of the power cars still based in the London area. The sets had now moved from Marylebone to Bletchley, where 51863 is seen on 26th September 1987. Shayne Lewis.
NSE livery appeared in 1986, the first set being painted for the "Network Day" on June 21st.
The image shows a NSE set liveried set in London Marylebone Station with a service for Aylesbury on 30 December 1989. Note the 115 set number which was unusual for this class. Mike Dean.
