On a fine Summer evening, a three-car BRCW Class 118 DMU formed of cars W51313 + W59509 + W51328 (P470) was stood in platform 1 at Newquay, ready to work another journey over the 20 Mile branch to the Cornish main line at Par on Wednesday July 23rd 1980. This was the period when Newquay had three operational platforms and was handling several long distance loco-hauled trains on a Summer Saturday. Martyn Hilbert.
