This is taken from the front of the vehicle looking to the rear, we are in the larger 1st class saloon (12 seats) which was the smoking section, through the partition (no door) is the smaller 6 seat non-smoking first class. Then there is a a vestibule and a 16 seat second class area before the guards van.

This is taken inside the buffet from the entry doorway (to the left of the camera), the serving hatch at the far right. The "Stotts of Oldham" water boiler is under the sink, the accompanying operating instructions above the sink notes it is "The Connoisseur Pressure Boiler & Sink Unit".

This is taken inside the buffet from the sink end, serving hatch to the right, looking towards the entry doors (one internal, one external) at the far end. The fridge can be seen at the far end branded as Hallmark Refrigeration, a product of J&E Hall, Dartford, Kent - a company that still exists.

This shows the buffet area. The lowered ceiling in front of the sliding gangway door hid the water tank for the buffet. Next to the passenger door on the right is a fire extinguishers, above is the vehicle lighting control panel, the bakelite switch above was possibly for the small reading lamps fitted to the luggage racks.

This shows the open serving hatch, the two lower hinged panels below counter level swung up and two keyholes can be seen in the panel above the hatch where they would be locked closed.

Noted as taken on the 10 December 1958 it shows the bodyshell of a DMSL. The doors stand out as being different colours as these were aluminium, the body of course was steel. This would be one of the first batch.

Completed DMBC W50708. It has a varnish date of 17 October 1957 in the solebar so this was probably taken soon afterwards, it was delivered to Cardiff Canton depot the following month.

This is DMBC 50733, which has sustained damage to the cab, cause unknown. Taken 7/9/64. It is carrying set number CDF531 on the solebar.

This is DMBC 50733, which has sustained damage to the cab, cause unknown. Taken 7/9/64. It was withdrawn on 05/05/69 - was it returned to traffic before then? It would be reinstated after withdrawal in 1970.
