DMU set 101320 in Stirling station with a Glasgow Queen Street service, date unknown. DMBS SC51248 is closest - is the glass missing from the marker lamps? The rear vehicle - another DMBS - is another type, likely a Class 105. Paul Redmond.
Having worked in from Waverley as 2V04, a hybrid 3 car set prepares to cross over to form the 2G36 0938 Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh service on 18th June 1983. A class 122 railcar, Sc55000, leads a couple of Metro-Cammell vehicles (51248 closest); at this point the 122 was based at Haymarket but its usefulness would mean that it was to last a further 11 years in service until withdrawal in 1994 from Laira. Beyond the station can be seen part of what was once a sprawling empire of linoleum mills. However, the distinctive smell can still be found in the town as one mill continues to produce the floor covering. The goods yard is in its latter years; the closure of the harbour branch and those mills significantly reduced the freight traffic. Latterly, a domestic coal merchant seemed to be the main user. The sight of a wee Barclay 06 parked beside the signal box was long gone. Bruce Galloway.
Met-Camm set 101320 on Haymarket depot in 1984 with DMBS 51248 closest, presumably with 59046 + 53749. S Saunders.

A Met-Camm DMU bound for Edinburgh Waverley, seen at Haymarket on 24 August 1984. Closest is though to be 53264 - note the lower case R in Scotrail, it would later carry the upper case version. Jeremy Chapter.
101320 (51248 + 59046 + 53749) at Markinch with the 16:20 Edinburgh - Perth service, 26th April 1987. Hamish Stevenson.
53746, 59046 and 51249 arriving at Edinburgh Waverley with the 1206 from Cowdenbeath 1st June 1987. Keith Long.
Three-car Met-Camm DMU 101 320 with a southbound service in North Queensferry station on 27 September 1987. North Berwick is displayed on the destination blind, were there any through service from Fife (or Dundee)? George Woods.
On 28th January 1988 a lorry toppled from the A736 road bridge over the G&SW line at the south end of Uplawmoor, some of its load falling onto the track as did some bridge parapet masonry derailing the leading vehicle 10:45 Kilmarnock to Glasgow Central. There were no casualties amongst the 30 passengers, the lorry driver was unhurt. It was worked by a hybrid set, Class 101 DMBS 51248 (closest, it would be withdrawn afterwards), a Class 101 TBSL (likely 59112, the only BG TBSL at Ayr) and a Class 120 DMSL. John Reddyhoff.
