August 1982
107 448 has passed Lochside signal box on its way to Ayr in the summer of 1982. Note the short signal post to assist sighting under the farm crossing overbridge - conversely the signal in the Glasgow direction has a tall post (with repeater arm) and is positioned outside the curve to assist sighting round the shallow, curved cutting. April 1983
Sunday Shift. Derby 107 448 on the rear of a six car set, leaving Paisley Canal on a Glasgow Central - Ayr working. It is heading towards the mainline at Elderslie No.1. The Canal line closed in January 1983 but this is a Sunday diversion due to engineering work. For a period of time post closure, the Canal line acted as a relief during engineering works or emergencies on the main line via Gilmour Street. April 1983. alicia hartman.

A Class 107 DMU in the sidings at Girvan in September 1983. Closest in set 107 448 is 52009, one of the vehicles that would be withdrawn after the fire at Ayr Depot a few months later. Stuart Mackay Collection.
