Running 'wrong line' at Saxmundham after a snow shower on Wednesday February 8th 1978 is Norwich based Cravens twin set no. 54 (E56436 + E51254) forming the 10.50 Lowestoft - Ipswich. Still retaining the twin headcode boxes, this original style of front end was rapidly disappearing by 1978 as cars went through Doncaster Works, reappearing with flush fronts. Having worked from Norwich, a Cravens Class 105 two-car set with Driving Motor Brake Second E51254 at the rear (set 54), was stood at Lowestoft on April 27th 1980. On the left is E51258 (set 59). Martyn Hilbert.
This four-car dmu formation on September 6, 1980 is headed by a Class 104 Birmingham RC&W Co driving trailer. I think I can identify this as E56187. It carries a Norwich set identity (54) and its partner is a class 105 Cravens vehicle, a 114 is on the back. The train is headed for Doncaster via Spalding, hence the train is crossing off the main (Peterborough) line into a branch platform. It probably originated at Great Yarmouth. This route closed in 1982. The large Whitemoor yard can be seen behind March North Junction signalbox. Jeremy Chapter.
This pair of recently repainted dmus make a pleasant scene standing at the south end of York station on my visit of July 2nd 1982. Norwich based twin sets could turn up just about anywhere it seemed and here Cravens Class 105 set 54 formed of E56440 + E51279 is on the left having arrived as the 10.37 from Sheffield. Derby built set E50618 + E56190 has come in from Doncaster. Gerard Fletcher.
Bufferstop scene at a tidy looking Lowestoft station on 18th August 1983. 31229 has arrived with the daily freight from Norwich, while the Cravens dmu, E51279 + E56440 (set 54) is awaiting departure as the 13.06 to Norwich. Gerard Fletcher.

Norwich based 2 car Metro-Cammell set 54 (54369, 51230) rolls into the terminus station at Cromer, with a Norwich - Sheringham service, here the train will reverse before continuing its journey to Sheringham. 14th August 1987. Andrew J Crowther.
