E50239 leads a twelve-car Met-Camm formation at Shildon 31 August 1975. These shuttles on the day of the 150th cavalcade ran to Darlington, and the November 1975 edition of The Railway Observer (p351) lists this formation as 50239 + 59087 + 59094 + 51505 / 50295 + 56075 / 51438 + 59573 + 59086 + 51506 / 56083 + 51209. On 18 February 1984 Hertfordshire Railtours ran a railtour utilising a class 47 with eight Mk 1 carriages between London King's Cross and Darlington and a 7-car Met-Camm dmu formation (53244 + 59084 + 53149 and 53295 + 53150 and 53188 + 51219) thence to Redmire and Eastgate as "The Norseman 2". In this view an HR rep is either placing or removing the headboard from Class 101 DMC(L) 53244. Jeremy Chapter.
