A Class 105 (M50792 closest) in the up platform at Milnrow on Saturday 5th July 1980, the last day before the line was singled from Shaw to Rochdale. Richard Greenwood.
A wide view of Bamber Bridge on May 18th 1981, with a Cravens Class 105 Power-Twin 2-Car DMU formed of cars M50792 & M50759, awaiting departure with a Preston to Colne service. Martyn Hilbert.
Liverpool Exchange on April 9th 1977; this was almost the end for the once great terminus with total closure only three weeks away. From a reduced number of operational platforms, the station was only handling the electric services to Ormskirk & Southport along with the DMU workings to Wigan Wallgate and Manchester Victoria via Kirkby. My notes recorded on that day have survived, and left to right we have a 3-Car Class 502 set formed of cars M29892M, M29580M & M28353M, awaiting departure to Ormskirk, alongside is Cravens Class 105, M50759 & M50792, polluting the atmosphere with its engines idling on a service to Manchester Victoria. On the adjacent platform is a newly-livered Class 502 consisting of cars M29895M, M29593M & M28366M ready to form a Southport working. On the centre road is a 6-car Class 502 set stabled for the Weekend under the shelter of the overall roof. Martyn Hilbert.
