An official image (1 of 15) from a internal BR photo album titled 'Refurbished Class 120 DMU Pre-Production SC Region'. It shows set 300 (51792 + 59683 + 51783) in Wormit goods yard, looking north, circa June 1977. Note the 'stretcher' window on the DMSL. British Rail.
An official image (5 of 15) from a internal BR photo album titled 'Refurbished Class 120 DMU Pre-Production SC Region'. It shows the connection between Sc59683 (left) and Sc51792 (right). While most of the steps up the end of the centre car have been removed (leaving the studs behind), the stepboard above the gangway is still in place, unusual for this era. This was taken circa June 1977, probably at Wormit goods yard. British Rail.

An official image (14 of 15) from a internal BR photo album titled 'Refurbished Class 120 DMU Pre-Production SC Region'. It shows the interior of DMSL Sc51792 circa June 1977. It shows the stretcher windows, with hooks on the luggage racks to keep them open. Only the front saloon of this vehicle had curtains, for privacy if a patient on a stretcher was brought in? Taken in Wormit goods yard, looking south. British Rail.
A Class 120 in Aberdeen Ferryhill depot in April 1978, believed to be set 300 with DMS 51792 closest. The vehicle has a stretcher window (the first passenger window) and orange curtains only in the front saloon. The centre car has a red stripe and 'Buffet' lettering, and the other power car is a DMBF conversion. Mike Cooper.
Stabled in the BREL Glasgow Works yard Inverness based DMSL SC51792 has arrived for repairs / overhaul. The 'stretcher window' is clearly visible, the front passenger window behind the cab, which was hinged at the top to permit a person on a stretcher to be placed inside the coach straight from a platform. Also visible behind is Inverness allocated Class 120 TSLRB SC59683 which is still labled as a 'Buffet Car' complete with a red cantrail section denoting it's position. Bob Woolnough.
The 25th July 1978 and set 300 leaves Huntly for Aberdeen. Taken from a Class 40 on the 'grain'. The first passenger window behind the can on the DMS is a stretcher window. The vehicles are presumed to be 51792 + 59683 + 51783. Mike Cooper.

An official image (15 of 15) from a internal BR photo album titled 'Refurbished Class 120 DMU Pre-Production SC Region'. It shows the toilet end of either centre car Sc59683 or DMSL Sc51792, the seat numbering on the wall (numbers 3 and 4) suggest the former as the power car numbering would likely start at the cab? Through the sliding door with the window were two toilets, one on either side, in-between was the door to the next vehicle. Taken while crossing the Tay Bridge, looking towards Dundee. British Rail.
DMBF no.51783 is at the rear of a Cross Country set (51792/59683/51783) making a smoky exit from Inverness on the 17.37 to Aberdeen on 1.7.78. Beyond is 08 738 marshalling the stock for that evening's Royal Highlander to Euston. The unique coaching stock type of DMBF arose when the small area of second class seating ahead of the guard's compartment on these DMBC's based at Inverness was converted to extra mail and parcels space for Inverness - Aberdeen services. Leonard Rogers.
