The RCTS "Reunion Railtour" ran from Birmingham to lines in South Wales on November 25, 1978. Formation was 50335+59123+50319, Metro Cammell class 101 DMU coaches from the late 1950s in "blue band" livery with West Midlands PTE logos. Seen at Hafodyrynys, the site of a coal mine. Jeremy Chapter.

Relief at Vigo, 12/12/1981. On a snowy December day the normal timetable had 'gone out of the window' so it was good to see a Metro-Cammell on a Worcester - Birmingham relief service. Vigo is situated about 2/3rds up the notorious Lickey incline and the DMU was down to walking pace at this point. The set was noted as containing 50319 so this DMCL could be 50335. Geoff Dowling.

Mechanical DMUs were becoming a bit uncommon in the Shrewsbury area by mid-1987 so I was pleased to take this picture of class 101, set 809 (presumably 53335 + 53319) leaving the town at Sutton Bridge Junction with a Crewe to Swansea service on 25th May of that year. In 2021 most of the semaphore signals survive but the bracket on the right has lost its low-speed arm controlling the entrance to the down loop as the track was lifted some time ago. Peter Tandy.
