The set was one of several cobbled together first generation DMU's that had been sent to Plymouth Laira following the transfer of the 'Skipper' Class 142 fleet to the North. The set was withdrawn whilst at Laira in 1991 following the arrival of some Class 150/2 Sprinters. Martyn Hilbert.
