19/04/59 - The six 2-car sets stored at Warwick shed (50947-52) were noted passing through Coventry on 19/04/59 hauled by 43005 in the Nuneaton direction, heading for Stoke. They were to have travelled under their own power, but had flat batteries after months of storage.

The vehicle carried the following numbers:

53948 - from 1983 (53xxx / 54xxx change)

In the days when the Up Starter at Parbold was a semaphore, a two-car Class 108 DMU formed of cars M53948 & M56231 was getting underway from Parbold with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on September 13th 1986. Martyn Hilbert.

At 8.28pm towards the end of a fine Summer evening with the sun setting in the West, an eight-car DMU forming a Carlisle to Preston 'Dalesrail' service was stood at Bamber Bridge on August 7th 1988. With the rear of the train standing on the level crossing, the driver was looking back along the train. The formation was M54268 & M53934, M53334 & M51206, M53492 & M53439, M53948 & M53944.
