A Wickham DMU - E56172 and presumably E50417 - departs from Somersham station with a Cambridge service in February 1967. The last passenger service from the station ran a few weeks later on 4 March 1967. John Clark / Adrian Sutterby Collection.
Wickham DMU set 56172 + 50417 stabled at Cambridge on 7 November 1967. It and the Derby Lightweight it is facing have the rubber protection panels behind the cab doors. Note also both Wickham vehicles have a white sign in the centre side window. Stuart Mackay Collection.
On Monday 24 June 1974 at 16:00, Wickham Driving Trailer Composite (L) E56172 is seen at TW Ward's Beighton scrap yard. It is facing another member of the Class, presumably 56173. Mr Deltic.
The 08.55 from Ipswich is seen near Brookfields footbridge, Cambridge, on 7 October 1970. The Norman cement works at Cherry Hinton can be seen in the background. I have the cars recorded as E56122 and E50153, the Cravens DTCL would move to Finsbury Park the same month, the Met-Camm DMBS remained allocated to Norwich a while longer and would soon be noted paired with Wickham DTCL 56172.
