On a swelteringly hot July 28th 1983, Norwich Cravens twin set no. 44 : E51289 +E54136 approaches Manea working the 14.52 Cambridge - Peterborough service. These units gave sterling service in East Anglia, though many had followed the example of E51289 by initially working off Lincoln depot for a few weeks when new in 1958, then going south to become part of the Hornsey /Finsbury Park allocation. E51289 arrived at Norwich in February 1978 and finished its career there in September 1985. Like most of its type, it met its end at the Snailwell yard of Mayer Newman.
