Following a minor derailment whilst arriving at Lancaster on a service from Leeds on March 5th 1979, the four-car Class 104 DMU formed of cars E50563, E59189, E59241 and another DMC was moved to the Up Yard Sidings at Lancaster. The following day the set was being examined and inspected, prior to it working back to its home depot at Leeds Neville Hill. The front first class saloon had a broken window on the drivers side. In attendance was an almost new British Rail Commer van, reg no. URC 555S. The 12 Ton Ventilated Van alongside with its doors open was B786766.
