Details

An unconventional sight in Waverley platform 17 in July 1988 is Derby Lightweight class 108 53631 which spent its first 30 years on the North Eastern region, initially as part of a 4 car set. Drafted in to Scotland in 1987 it is seen here on one end of set 386, a hybrid formed of a BRCW class 110 centre car and a later class 108 51926.

When ScR had enough of them, the 108s were tidied up and ran as a pair on the Central Wales line based at Landore while the centre car was withdrawn from Haymarket.

On the right is the more common sight of a Met Camm triple 101307 (51231 + 59688 + 53189).
