Sc50192 departs Inverkeithing with the 13:42 Edinburgh - Kirkcaldy working in the days before the Fife Circle was invented! This was 26th March 1983. The up platform here is partially constructed over the Keithing Burn, a stream which leads into the Firth of Forth via Inverkeithing Bay. Up trains leaving here face a stiff climb and will be 150 feet higher when they cross the Forth Bridge Brian McDevitt.
Class 101 53189, set number 101307, is seen inside St Rollox works undergoing overhaul on 25.05.1986. Andy Cole.
101307 led by DMC Sc53141 passes through Princes Street Gardens - ca June 1986. The DMBS would presumably be Sc51231. Andrew McConnell.
The DMU line-up at the buffers in Edinburgh Waverley on this day in 1987 comprised Met-Camm 101307 (presumably 53189), Swindon 532 (53658) and a Class 107. S Saunders.
A 1987 DMU line-up in Edinburgh Waverley: Met-Camm 101307 (presumably 53189); Swindon 532 (53658); and a Class 107. S Saunders.
53189 heads 101307 departing Haymarket depot towards Waverley in 1988. S Saunders.
SC51231 (recently repainted) as part of 101307 on Haymarket depot in 1988. S Saunders.
Poor availability of Class 143 Pacers due to failures of their gearboxes, led to a large influx of First Generation DMUs to Heaton depot, Newcastle, particularly from Autumn 1987, to maintain local services in the north-east. A number of Class 101s came from Scotland, and that is clearly the case for the rear car SC53141 in this view of a service passing South Bank, Cleveland, heading east towards Saltburn, on Friday 29/04/1988. Graeme Phillips Collection.
An unconventional sight in Waverley platform 17 in July 1988 is Derby Lightweight class 108 53631 which spent its first 30 years on the North Eastern region, initially as part of a 4 car set. Drafted in to Scotland in 1987 it is seen here on one end of set 386, a hybrid formed of a BRCW class 110 centre car and a later class 108 51926. When ScR had enough of them, the 108s were tidied up and ran as a pair on the Central Wales line based at Landore while the centre car was withdrawn from Haymarket. On the right is the more common sight of a Met Camm triple 101307 (51231 + 59688 + 53189). Murray Liston.
Racing down the gradient from the Forth Bridge having just passed the end of Runway 31 at Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh Haymarket TMD based 3 car Class 101 101307 is heading for Edinburgh Waverley Station on the 8th September 1988. DMBS SC51231 is leading, followed by TCL SC59688 with DMCL SC53189 bringing up the rear. Bob Woolnough.
Sc53141 (still carrying it's last ScR set number) + 53214 at Appleby on November 3rd, 1988. John Carter.
101307 (presumably 51231 + 59688 + 53189) passes though Princes St Gardens on its way to Stirling in 1989. Andrew McConnell.
