A break at Barrhead. By 1999 time was running out for first generation DMUs in Scotland, with a handful of Met Camm power twin sets operating from Corkerhill depot on some Glasgow suburban services. Taken on 1st August that year, when these had only a few months to go before being replaced by Sprinters. 101688 (51431 + 51501) are seen during a runround at Barrhead on 1st August 1999, with the guard taking a break in the sunshine. This unit was not so lucky, being completely destroyed by fire near Mossend Yard on 17th November that year.
