The lines to the right are the closed Woodhead route, the unit would have travelled via the now closed line from Sheffield Victoria. The present Huddersfield Sheffield service is routed from Penistone via Barnsley and Meadowhall. It is a lot more frequent than the occasional service then. John Carter.

A break at Barrhead. By 1999 time was running out for first generation DMUs in Scotland, with a handful of Met Camm power twin sets operating from Corkerhill depot on some Glasgow suburban services. Taken on 1st August that year, when these had only a few months to go before being replaced by Sprinters. 101688 (51431 + 51501) are seen during a runround at Barrhead on 1st August 1999, with the guard taking a break in the sunshine. This unit was not so lucky, being completely destroyed by fire near Mossend Yard on 17th November that year. Murray Liston.

Following withdrawal from Longsight, this set was preserved. Passing in the distance is 101688 (51431 + 51501) which was destroyed in a blaze near Mossend on 17th November of that year.
