Back in the days of decent trains and station staff, a diagram took these wonderful Trans-Pennine units from Hull to Beverley and back meaning I got to travel to and from work in style. E52102 brings up the rear of the 16:41 Hull - Beverley on 3rd November 1978. Fred the Station Attendant who worked there for many years looks on to make sure I'm not up to no good! Syd Young.
Vehicle: 54383
A Class 101 2-car set with E54383 leading (recently renumbered from E56383) waits under the NER footbridge at Cottingham with a service from Bridlington to Hull on 29th July 1983. On the left, a Class 108 set departs for Beverley. Cottingham station has changed little since this photo was taken; the old footbridge still creaks under the weight of passing feet, but the 1st generation DMUs which served the line for 30-odd years are long gone. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 53296
E53296 brings up the rear of a pair of Metro-Cammell 2-car units at Cottingham on a service from Hull to Bridlington on 23rd April 1984. Northgate signalbox, the semaphores and the wooden platform extensions have all, along with the venerable 101s, disappeared from this location. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 56142
A Cravens Class 105 2-car set with E56142 leading arrives at Cottingham with an evening service from Beverley to Hull on 12th July 1979. At this date Northgate crossing box still controlled the semaphore signals and the wooden gates, together with the crossover and ground discs shown in the photograph. All have been consigned to history along with the 105s. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 56369
The 16:25 Hull - Bridlington service leaves Cottingham on 26th April 1983. E56369 is the leading vehicle of a pair of two-car Class 101s, presumably with 51230. The vehicles on the right are parked on the site of the former goods yard. Fortunately the actual goods shed survives and is still in use with a local timber company. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 56052
A Beverley - Hull train with E56052 leading passes the wooden crossing box at Thwaite Street in Cottingham on 19th October 1983. Although I lived most of my life in the village, this is the only photograph I have of the box which was demolished when control of the signalling and crossings was transferred to Hull. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 50614
E50614 passes the delightfully named Snuff Mill Lane Crossing on the outskirts of Cottingham on the evening of 21st October 1983 with a Bridlington - Hull service. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 56045

A pair of Metro-Cammell 2-car sets arrive at Cottingham on 26th August 1983 with a Bridlington - Hull service. Semaphores, signalboxes and crossing gates are all still in attendance. Syd Young.
Vehicle: 53599
A Class 108 2-car set with recently-renumbered 53599 bringing up the rear trundles away from Cottingham on a Hull - Scarborough service on 18th October 1983. The semaphores went the following year and the box lingered on until 1987. The latter is now preserved in the Hull Streetlife Museum. Syd Young.
A Met-Camm DMU and Class 40 at Cottingham circa 1971. John Grey Turner.
A DMU formation, at least three two-car sets, leaving Cottingham for the coast circa 1971. Leading is a BRC&W set, there also seems to be Cravens and Met-Camm vehicles in the rake. John Grey Turner.
A Cravens twin-unit heads an 8-car set into Cottingham for Sheffield circa 1971. John Grey Turner.
Two four-car BRC&W units departing from Cottingham circa 1971. John Grey Turner.

A Trans-Pennine 5-car unit, with a two-car set at the far end, unusually seconded to Summer Saturday duties at Cottingham circa 1971. John Grey Turner.
