Tyseley went a little far with the paint jobs on some of their dmus, TS417 and briefly TS402 were nicknamed "Dusty" because they resembled that singers heavy eye make up. This particular Dusty was at work on the 19.40 Birmingham Moor Street to Shirley service on 14th June 1984. The picture has three of Hall Greens lost buildings, above the train the signal box and to the left the general store/cycle shed and the GWR corrugated Iron lamp hut. Geoff Dowling.
A covering of snow and bright sunshine turns Hall Green station into a Christmas card scene. The class 116 DMU is working a Birmingham Moor Street to Shirley service around late morning time. The station still had the large GWR 'Hall Green' running in boards, the bases of their support columns are still to be seen today, severed at platform level, both embankments are now thickly covered in trees, the right-hand side is particularly bad. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith, circa 1987. Geoff Dowling and John Whitehouse Collection.
