Clayton West signal box at the approach to the station as seen from a Met-Camm dmu just arriving from Huddersfield. Opened in 1879 by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway it was closed in 1983 when the branch line closed. The nameboard is original LYR. Pete LG99.
A Met-Camm at Clayton West, West Yorkshire, on 30th December 1982. The platform awnings had gone but the Victorian LYR Clayton West station building survived until the end. Here my dmu from Huddersfield had just arrived. I wasn't the only one taking photos and there was quite a contingent of enthusiasts, like myself, wanting to record the branch before final closure by BR 3 weeks later. Pete LG99.

An Cravens-built class 105 DMU makes a connection with a Rail Express Parcels van at Clayton West station in West Yorkshire on February 23, 1979. This branch closed in 1983. A regular shipment of the Parcels van was Shaw carpets from Darton near Barnsley which travelled on the DMU to Huddersfield. Jeremy Chapter.
