A publicity image of Cravens single-car RDB975385, probably circa September 1980, showing the bogie fitted with the experimental drive. It was not the only DMU to have B4 bogies, the Class 123s were fitted with them and as was one Class 120 buffet car. British Rail.

Derby Midland Station 1981 It may be a bit fuzzy but it is one of the few photos I took of Derby station. The original mid-Victorian Midland Railway station building - the chimneys can be seen above the awnings - was still in use but of course I failed to get a photo of that. Sadly it was demolished in the mid-1980s and replaced by the nondescript modern building. In the distance the lattice footbridge to Derby Loco Shed & Works is just visible. It was an early start from Leicester & my mate gave me a lift to the station where at 07.40 it was only just getting light. I later took the dmu seen in the platform to Sheffield and then on to Huddersfield via the remains of the Woodhead Route. Pete LG99.

Six DMU cars are seen between 47125 and 08303 at Derby on 17 February 1981. All but one are Class 120s: 50691, 50651 + 59290 + 50736, 59135 (104) and 50653. Possibly bound for Litchurch Lane? Andrew Bond.

Class 114 DTCL E56040 in Derby station on 27 November 1981. The driver had the low sun in his eyes and misread the signal and set off, hitting an incoming Class 45 with Mk1s in tow.
