A holiday extra return working to Colne is seen at Chaffers Siding, east of Nelson, on 9 July 1977. Formed of two three-car DMUs, five of the six vehicles are Class 104s, the 'white-liner' set (M50527 furthest) contains Class 108 DMBS M50973. Michael Mensing.

Class 104 vehicles in Lancaster station on a Sunday in the late 1970s. These are related to the derailment of an outbound Leeds train which possibly derailed on the remaining points from the old Glasson Dock branch at the North end of platforms 1 & 2. All trains were cancelled on the WCML through Lancaster while the Breakdown train from Wigan attended. Andrew Pilkington.

A 3-car Class 104 dmu pauses at Uttoxeter station on 14 January 1979 to allow Saturday shoppers to alight from the 14.30 from Derby on this dull January afternoon. According to Wikipedia, the ex-North Staffordshire Railway buildings on the left were destroyed by fire in 1987. Tom Burnham.

Newcastle Station - East end Concourse, on 21/01/1978. This was the Saturday prior to withdrawal of BR services between Manors and West Monkseaton via Benton. There appears to be some kind of electronic information boards, although not for platform 2. The paper notice stands are presumably about arrangements for replacement bus services. A Class 104, typical traction at the time, is behind the red ticket inspector's kiosk, several 101s are to the right. Graeme Phillips Collection.
