10th August 1988

Class 105 53368 is seen at Leeds on 10.08.1988 working for the Parcels sector. The simple addition of a red and yellow stripe improved the all over blue greatly. It is presumably paired up with 53361, and behind is parcels Class 114 55931. Andy Cole.

Set: N699

Amazingly by 1988 it had survived whilst other units succumbed around it. It also transfered to Newton Heath and obtained a set number N699. Here it is seen at Stockport in the centre road awaiting it's next call to duty. 13th August 1988. By this time it was a real celebrity and had a loyal band of followers including myself. Set: 30

Norwich based class 105 'Cravens' DMU set no.30 (53359+54122), by this time one of the very few left in passenger service on the network, calls at West Runton whist working a Sheringham-Norwich service on 17th August 1988. This DMU was restored to a retro BR livery with cats whiskers in April 1986 to mark the end of DMU operations on the Anglia Region in the London Area. It was withdrawn on the 03/11/88 and with the unit being considered to have asbestos contamination it went to Mayer-Newman's scrapyard at Snailwell, where it was incinerated in the fire tunnel and reduced to scrap on 23/02/89. Class 105 parcels set 53367 + 53365 at Leeds on August 18, 1988. Behind is the blue Class 114 roller shutter door set 55930 + 55933, and behind is another Class 114 set. Rex Holt.
