A Class 108 DMU, Stockton station in 1973. Possibly my earliest photographic effort as a mere 11 year old. I lived in Stockton at the time and spent many hours trainspotting there, along with the still operating hourly Middlesbrough to Newcastle service there was also an hourly service between Hartlepool and Darlington and even the occasional mainline service that operated via the coast. The middle road has a string of parcels vans waiting collection and of course there was vastly more freight passing through than the meager offerings today. There was also the overall roof to keep you dry(ish) John Carter.
