On 27 August 1983 Class 47 no 47342 is seen at Llandudno having dragged a Class 101/108 dmu formation. I had this down as a Blythe Bridge-Llandudno "additional" service, but the "Class 47 list" website says that the train was an 09.22 Stoke-Llandudno relief. I travelled on this train from Llandudno Junction, but I have no idea where the 47 was attached. Lewis Bevan.

With the former Goods Shed as a backdrop, A 2-Car Class 108 with Motor Brake Second M53964 leading, passes through the disused platforms of Midge Hall station whilst working a Preston to Ormskirk service on October 29th 1983. The former Up line from Farington Curve Junction on the West Coast Main Line had been taken out of use earlier in 1983. A Class 108 two-car DMU with Driving Motor Brake Second M53944 at the rear, was stood at Bamber Bridge with a Preston to Colne service on November 20th 1983. In the distance is the bridge constructed in red brick, that takes the M6 Motorway across the East Lancashire route. The structure was the first Motorway over Railway bridge in the UK, this section of the M6 (The 8 mile Preston By-Pass) between Bamber Bridge and Broughton, opened in December 1958. Unfortunately the original brick bridge was encased by new structures on both sides when this section of the M6 was widened in the 1990's. Martyn Hilbert.
