On the 20th of May 1967 Class 40 D344 runs into the station hauling a failed DMU (a 5xxxx series Derby Lightweight and a Met-Camm) on the 13.45 Llandudno to Manchester service. The KDH Archive.

A (blue square) Derby Lightweight DMU at Grange-over-Sands on 19 August 1967. The vehicles - M56267 and M50984 - were allocated to Accrington at the time. My late father, Stanley Smith, rarely took pictures with trains in them, this was a rare exception. It is from a 1 5/8 x 2 1/4 slide taken on a pre-war Zeiss Bellows camera. A wooden crate is offloaded from the van on M51948 and passengers head out the station at Fleetwood on 21 October 1967. It will depart with the 17:38 to Kirkham & Wesham. DMUs were allocated to Fleetwood depot (24F) between 1959 and 1962. Robert Thomas.

A Derby Lightweight (Blue Square) DMU at St Ives (Huntingdonshire) after arriving from Cambridge into the platform which used to be for the line to Huntingdon and Kettering circa 1968. Behind the building are the platforms formerly used for the March line. The station was largely intact at this time, but was rationalised a few months later. Cambridge depot only ever had one DMU allocated of this type, 56201 + 50610 arriving from the Scottish Region in January 1968 which explains the yellow first class stripe on the DTCL. They moved to Norwich depot in November 1968. Tom Burnham.

Three twin DMUs passing the site of Astley station on the Liverpool - Manchester Line (Chat Moss). All but one vehicle are (blue square) Derby Lightweights. Undated - the early version of the Rail Blue livery on the closest car and the third vehicle from this end, a BRC&W vehicle, is still in green - suggesting late 1960s. Stuart Mackay Collection.

The 16:05 Lancaster - Barrow-in-Furness service arrives into Kents Bank station on 21 June 1968. Formed of a two-car Class 108, the closest vehicle appears to be M56248 at the time allocated to Accrington. Michael Mensing.
