Having climbed the incredibly steep banking next to Buxton Shed something I did only once! this is the result, a fine view of class 45/0 locomotive 45033 (D39) with one of the White trade marked Buxton class 108 dmus sticking it's nose out of the shed. 3rd October 1986. Andrew J Crowther.
A Leeds Neville Hill Depot allocated Class 108 with Driving Trailer Second Lavatory (TRSL) E54195 leading, was stood at Parbold with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on October 4th 1986. The rear car has West Yorkshire PTE 'MetroTrain' branding, and judging by the destination blind the unit had been 'borrowed' at Manchester for the trip to the seaside and back. Martyn Hilbert.

Cardiff Class 108/101 hybrid DMU set, C901, with DMBS W53625 leading (presumably with 59130 and 51922), sits on the DMU shed at Cardiff Canton. Not sure of the date, but between 23rd and 27th November 1986. Paul James.
With the WCML in the background and the route to Southport in the foreground, Class 108 DMU sets were Sunday resting in the Up sidings adjacent to Wigan Wallgate Junction on November 2nd 1986. Complete with a Greater Manchester PTE emblem behind the cab door the nearest car was DMSL 54232. M53953 + M54242 await departure from Newcastle p5 with the 12:35 Newcastle - Alnmouth local service on 3/11/86. At the time, these cars were allocated to Kingmoor for Cumbria services, but this one could have worked across to Newcastle on a Tyne Valley service, perhaps due to unit failure, and was now being utilised on this north-east service. Most of the Kingmoor 108s - including this pairing - were reallocated to Heaton in May 1988, when the former was closed, the remaining units going to Chester depot. Graeme Phillips Collection.

A misty morning at Cosford on 29 November 1986 made the use of black & white film a better bet than Kodachrome 64. The subject is class 108 DMU T072 (51566 + 53933) complete with headlight and a red dragon emblem on the cab front. The train is about to stop at Cosford station with a Wolverhampton to Chester service stopping at all stations at least as far at Shrewsbury. Peter Tandy.
