High above the River Weaver at Frodsham a DMU (which looks like a Class 108) is working the 17.14 Manchester - Llandudno service. My usual route into Wigan along the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal took me out of the countryside and through a grim area of factories and derelict warehouses. Approaching the town on the 24th June 1984 I paused to capture a train of four class 108 DMU cars rattling its way between Wigan and Southport. S Gaskell.
