On the afternoon of 7 September 1987 two of Tyseley's two-car Class 108 sets led by T211 (54277 and presumably 53943) were photographed climbing the 1/75 of Wilmcote Bank a short distance from Stratford-upon-Avon. The leading DTS was possibly unique at the time as it still had operational headcode blinds although I'm not sure what the code carried on this run represented. Later, on the run to Stratford from Leamington Spa it had changed to display the set number. These shots were a bonus as I was in this spot for a picture of 47628 with the VSOE on its way from Stratford to London Victoria. Peter Tandy.

Derby built 1960 Class 108 DMBS M51927, is high on the jacks inside its home depot on the occasion of the Tyseley open day on 4th October 1987. Once a Buxton allocated unit with its trade mark white roof and on the 108's black window surround, now Tyseley's unit T212 with its West Midlands logo but interesting the Buxton BX490 set plate is still displayed in the window. A Neville Hill allocated Class 108/111 hybrid is seen stabled at Huddersfield as a Class 156 departs on 29 June 1990. Closest is DMBS 53969 carrying set number T215 from a previous allocation to Tyseley. Its partner is 54091 had been reinstated a few weeks before after having been withdrawn in September 1989. It would spend another decade in traffic, becoming part of 101658 the following year. Keith Miller.
