A train for Huddersfield formed of a Class 110 DMU (52084 closest) awaits departure from Clayton West on 22nd January 1983, the final day of service on the 3.5 mile branch from Shepley Junction. This is now the site of the terminus of the Kirklees Light Railway. Paul Braybrook.

Stepping up at Cleethorpes. A former "Calder Valley" BRCW class 110 DMU (E52084 closest) is seen at Cleethorpes in late 1987 having arrived from Barton-upon-Humber. On the left is a set of steps used to climb aboard from the lower platform level, a far cry from today's step free access requirements everywhere. Murray Liston.

Having left Edale heading towards Manchester and about to plunge into the 2 mile 182 yard Cowburn Tunnel in the Hope Valley on 23rd August 1986, a 1961 built BRC&W built "MetroTrain" branded class 110 'Calder Valley' 3 car dmu set, this one being E52085 + E59696 + E52069, these were not common through here, indeed I'm sure this is the only shot I have of one! The last of the class were taken out of service in October 1989 but by then they were no longer common in the Calder Valley. Andrew J Crowther.

This BRCW-built unit dates from 1962 and comprises a 'motor composite' no. E52085 in front and a 'motor brake composite' no. 52069 behind. Two Rolls-Royce engines power each vehicle. At the time of this picture, DMUs like this were thought of as quite 'old', but today we travel on Sprinters that are older...! Andrew Walker.
