Grinding through Grimsby. A former "Calder Valley" BRCW class 110 DMU grinds round the bend between New Clee and Grimsby Docks stations in the winter of late 1987. E51818 is closest, the centre car is Class 108 TBSL 59246, the rear power car is 52077. Murray Liston.
Not to be confused with Newquay. A 3 car BRCW DMU stops for nobody at New Clee station in the winter of late 1987. The centre car is a Class 108 TBSL. There were only six of these built, at this time one was withdrawn, two were on the ScR and the other three at Neville Hill. Two are recorded as running in Class 110 sets, and this formation is believed to be 51818 + 59246 + 52077. This halt between Cleethorpes and Grimsby was singled in 1985 and the remaining platform is now a request halt for the two-hourly Cleethorpes to Barton-upon-Humber service. Grimsby Town FC's Blundell Park stadium can be seen in the background. Murray Liston.

Coming out of a thunderstorm on a very murky day, a 10-Car DMU formation was climbing Farington Curve, heading for home with a Blackpool North to Leeds service on June 5th 1982. The leading set is a three-car Class 110 with E51820 leading. Behind the Calder Valley is a four-car Metro-Cammell Class 111, with a three-car Class 111 at the rear. The 110 units were daily visitors to Preston and Blackpool during the 1970's and the early 1980's on the daily Leeds-Blackpool North and return service that ran via Copy Pit and Blackburn. During weekdays a three-car set would suffice, but on Summer Saturdays the train would be formed of additional units as seen in this view. Martyn Hilbert.
