With West Yorkshire PTE 'Metro Train' branding, a two-car Class 111 DMU formed of cars E78971 & E78713 was passing Lostock Hall with a Preston to Leeds service on April 28th 1987. The pair of cars were renumbered in the 78xxx series following conversion to single engine cars in the mid 1980's. Still in Regional Railways livery but operating for First North Western, a pair of Met-Cam Class 101's, 101658 (54091 + 51175) & 101661 (51463 & 54365) were departing ECS from Blackpool North on October 27th 1997. This had been a Saturday only working for 101's during the Spring/Summer/Autumn of 1997, the units working to the Fylde Coast as the 09.45 Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North service and returning back to Manchester ECS.
