Set: 101658
Still in Regional Railways livery but operating for First North Western, a pair of Met-Cam Class 101's, 101658 (54091 + 51175) & 101661 (51463 & 54365) were departing ECS from Blackpool North on October 27th 1997. This had been a Saturday only working for 101's during the Spring/Summer/Autumn of 1997, the units working to the Fylde Coast as the 09.45 Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North service and returning back to Manchester ECS. A Metro-Cam 111 class dmu, 78961 leading, leaves Manchester Victoria for Southport on 23/2/88. Mike Dean.
7th April 1988
A Metro-Cammell 2-car set with E78959 leading passes major rebuilding work at Gilberdyke on the evening of 7th April 1988. This was a 2-car set which originally had four engines, now reduced to two. The quadruple track from Gilberdyke Junction to Melton Lane had been reduced to two running lines and the stations along the line were being shaped to fit. At both here and Broomfleet new platforms were being built over the old relief lines. Syd Young.
