A Class 148 at Sheffield Midland in the late 1960s. Later known as a Class 114 DTC(L), this vehicle was classified as Class 148 at the time this slide was taken - believed to be late 1960s due to the presence of green liveried vehicles. Unusually, it lacks the yellow line above the first class accommodation, although window stickers are visible - it is unlikely to have been declassified by this early stage. With the destination blind reading Peterborough, it is possibly a service that originated at Grimsby, which would travel to Peterborough via Boston. Lincoln Central Station and High Street signal box in the spring of 1970 with a Derby Heavyweight DMU. High Street signal box was built by the Great Northern Railway in 1874 and extended in 1925. Although now closed it is preserved as a listed structure. Bryan Jeyes.
