It is 10.10pm by the station clock and the fume-filled York station is captured during a brief period of inactivity as Lincoln-allocated and Derby 1956-built class 114 unit No.50006-56036 gurgles away in the bay platform 11 forming a late-evening stopping service to Sheffield on 26th November 1981. My overnight on the station was just unfolding with much action to be witnessed over the next 10 hours! Gordon Edgar.
An interior view of the maintenance depot at Lincoln, seen on Sunday 19th January 1986. Among the many DMUs on shed is a solitary Class 08, no. 08102. The nearest DMU on the right is no. E53006, which on this occasion was paired with no. E54038. Andrew Walker.

Tyseley Class 114 DMU, set T026 (presumably 53006 + 54010), sits in Bay Platform 4 in Hereford station on 27th October 1989. Class 114's were not a common DMU type to be seen at Hereford, although in later years Tyseley acquired a right mix of DMU classes/types to keep a service going. Paul James.

A convenient gap in the foilage for two-car class 114 T026 (53006 + 54010) rolling down Hatton Bank on 17 April 1990 while working an early afternoon train from Stratford-upon-Avon to Leamington Spa. This location is just to the north of where Warwick Parkway was later built. Peter Tandy.
This picture was taken on 27 April 1990 and is a graphic demonstration of how things just outside Stratford-upon-Avon station have changed over the years. The goods loop, signalbox, gasholders, canning factory and chimneys have all gone and it's next to impossible to reach this spot for a "now" comparison shot in 2024. The train is class 114 set T026 (54010 + 53006) leaving the town with the 08.12 service to Leamington Spa, the return of this, the 07.30 from Leamington (see image 20787). Peter Tandy.

A couple of slightly unusual Derby Heavyweight units at Grantham in August 1971. On the left E56019 carries an early version of the rail blue livery with just a yellow panel and the BR logo on the cab door.
