1435 Worcester Shrub Hill to Birmingham New Street service near Hartlebury, June 1977. At the time this was the only passenger train on in this direction between 0850 in the morning until 1630 in the afternoon. Very different to now! Andrew Cope.
A DMU arrives at Upper Holloway on a Barking to Kentish Town working in June 1977. It is composed of a 3-car set and a single power car. Services were diverted to Gospel Oak in 1980, presumably because of congestion at Kentish Town, once electrification was underway. Kevin Lane.

A Class 116 power car, presumably at Tyseley, the slide process date was April 1978. It doesn't have a coloured gutter - it's just a scanning artifact - but it does have some recent welding work done on the bogie. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Class 116 diesel multiple unit, no doubt based at Tyseley, on a pre-electrification Cross City service disappears towards Redditch (although this service terminated at Longbridge according to the banner display) at the new Birmingham University station in Edgbaston.
