TS553, with presumably 53878 closest, at University, Birmingham on 07/07/84. Steve Jones.
Tyseley DMU set TS553 sits in the platform at Leamington Spa. The vehicles are presumably 53878 (116), 59606 (127) and 55000 (122). Nicholas notes: Leamington had a tendency to run the empty stock 3 car DMU of a Moor St set and the Stratford bubble out onto the up main toward Fenny when a xcountry was due, and then separately use a shunt disc to bring them in behind the express - providing a same platform interchange instead of the subway. This is not allowed any more - Call Ons 'are for joining' and shunts onto occupied passenger trains are somewhat discouraged - except where there's a third rail - despite stairs being easily the worst passenger hazard. In those days, the up bay wasn't signalled for Main move down departures so the bubble had to shuffle across anyway. Nicholas T Smith.

The DMBS 50826 was a recent transfer from Hamilton and has the vehicle number prefix painted over, and there are signs of the former set number under the driver's window. Michael Mensing.

Making a spirited climb of the Lickey Bank is one of Tyseley's 3 car class 116 units although the centre car is a newly painted class 101 Metro-Cammell coach - set TS557, presumably 50100 + 59131 + 50840. The passengers are enjoying a fine view from the front windows as they head towards Blackwell at the summit of the climb. The unit, which started from Worcester, has Four Oaks on the blind although I do not remember services from Worcester going beyond Birmingham New Street. 25/08/1979. Geoff Dowling.

You go for a quiet shot of a DMU on a Sunday afternoon and look what happens! Tyseley's class 116 T567 with a class 101 centre coach was approaching Stratford-upon-Avon on 2 August 1987 when 4771 Green Arrow muscled into the shot. The shot was taken from a convenient industrial site to which access was allowed if the right security guard happened to be on duty. The other photographers alongside me were sweating a bit when they heard the DMU approach but it cleared in plenty of time as Green Arrow put up a good display with Gordon White, the Leamington Spa driver usually driving these specials, clearly full of confidence in both his and the engine's capabilities. Peter Tandy.
