Class 116 units TS507 and TS603 sit in Birmingham Moor Street on Wednesday 8 February 1984. Mel Holley.
The Saturdays-only Paddington to Stratford-upon-Avon DMU, unusually formed of set TS603, 2 class 116 cars sandwiching a Met-Camm trailer (the vehicles are presumably M51136, M59106 and M51149), rather than the usual 6 cars. Taken from the platform at South Ruislip, date unknown. Someone has changed the destination board to Birmingham Moor Street possibly to ready it for work the following day. I doubt if this caused too much confusion at least until the train reached Leamington Spa! David Ive.
A Birmingham cross-city working with the normal driving cars, but with a Metro-Cammell class 111 trailer inserted (presumably 51136 + 59106 + 51149). 1985. Ian Docwra.

A nine-car DMU formation arriving into Shenstone with the 09:29 Longbridge - Lichfield City service on 30 March 1984. All are suburban vehicles except one Met-Camm centre car. They are 51142 + 59101 + 51129 / 53863 + 59368 + 53916 / 53831 + 59713 + 53884. Stuart Mackay Collection.
The 17.40 Paddington - Stratford-upon-Avon service, with class 116 DMS no 51142 leading, passes Wycombe North coal yard on 21 July 1984. The other two vehicles are presumably Class 111 TSL 59101 and Class 116 DMBS 51129. Robert28194.
The bay sidings at Hereford contain Tyseley DMU set (TS604 presumably 51129 + 59101 + 51142) waiting in the bay platform (No 4) with a 47 stabled behind it, and two class 37s occupy the next track. Circa 1986. John Crooks.
WM liveried Class 116 DMBS 51129 set rattles away to itself in platform 4 at Hereford, awaiting the right-away for Worcester, circa 1986. John Crooks.
09/07/84 TS607 and C801 at Shrewsbury. TS607 is bound for Wolverhampton, and C801 for Swansea Jason Hall.
Tyseley Class 116/127 hybrid DMU set TS607 set (presumably 53862 + 59600 + 53872) stabled on the old traverser road at Birmingham Moor Street, Autumn 1985. On Tour With the Class 13 Army.
53862 at Birmingham New Street on 22/04/87. Steve Jones.
A Class 108 and a Class 116 in Llandudno Junction station on Tuesday 27 May 1987. The 116 is working the 0941 Birmingham New St - Llandudno and formed of set TS607 (presumably 53862 visible) and TS614. Colin Brooks.
A 3-car Class 116 set at Peartree on the outskirts of Derby. The set number in the cab window appears to read TS608 and so presumably 51144 + 59596 + 51131. Ian Francis.
Class 116 DMU set T608 with cars 51131 + 59613 + 51144 climbing Hatton Bank on 15 April 1987 with a Leamington to Birmingham Moor Street train. Fire damage to the cutting from a lineside fire is visible and it seems that the bridge over Dark Lane was all that stopped it spreading further south. Peter Tandy.
An excursion from Walsall - Barmouth is seen at Tywyn on the 20th April 1985. It was a six-can formation, a 116/Met-Camm/116 hybrid (presumably 53880 + 59533 + 53827) and three-car Class 116. Hamish Stevenson.
Early in the morning of 4 June 1986, while waiting for the weedkiller with 47 013 to arrive I took this shot of a class 116 (TS609, presumably 53894 + 59603 (a 127) + 53853) leaving the siding to form the 06.30 to Birmingham with the driver Oliver, whose surname I forget, standing in the cab. At this time, Stratford was a signing-on and stabling point and if one was lucky a unit would have been put in this siding on the previous night. This piece of track was not regularly used and I was pleased to get this shot with the lower quadrant signal in the "off" position, even though the sun was not yet properly on the track. Peter Tandy.
An interesting train on the North Warwickshire line to Birmingham in 1986 was the daily train booked to start at 08.13 from Henley-in-Arden which had arrived earlier and was routed into the bay platform; the only service so to do. This gave the rare opportunity to photograph a unit in the otherwise unused platform 3 and to take a picture with the signal in the clear position. I should like to have had a picture of the DMU nearer the signal but wanted to catch it for the onward journey. The train, formed of the usual class 116 3 car set on this occasions TS609 (presumably 53894 + 59603 (a 127) + 53853), is seen here on 29 August 1986 with the guard returning to his van in order to give the right of way to the driver. Peter Tandy.
A lengthy class 116 dmu passes High Wycombe on 15 July 1984, returning empty to Tyseley. It is believed to have worked to Welshpool the previous day. Leading is set TS610, presumably 53890 + 59603 + 53837. Robert28194.
