Set L724, with car 51400 being the trailing vehicle is seen at Stewartby Green Lanes Halt on 09 07 1998, once bustling with the number of labourers for the numerous brick works in the area. Little known fact is that the level crossing had the first bi-lingual signage installed in the middle 1950's in the country - English and Italian, so that the workers could correctly observe to crossing instructions! A Class 117 heads up towards Daviot 01/05/94 on 5Z61 1545 Inverness - Perth. Still labelled 117210, it is now 117310 after having the centre car added and transferred from Tyseley to Haymarket. It had been to Inverness for NRN radio fitment. Roddy MacPhee.

A three-car Pressed Steel Suburban DMU with Driving Motor Brake Second 51360 leading (presumably with 59512 + 51402), was passing Lostock Hall Junction with the Sunday Preston to Carlisle 'Dalesrail' service on May 7th 1988. Suburban type DMU's were never common sights around the Preston area, until several sets were transferred to Newton Heath in the latter part of the 1980's to provide cover for Class 142 Pacers that were being sidelined with various issues.
