Class 117 DMS 51396 (and presumably 59506 + 51354), set number L417, is seen after overhaul and repaint into Network South East livery by Doncaster Works at Tyseley on 13.09.1986. It was being delivered back to Reading. Andy Cole.

In 1988 class 117 unit L417 heads away from Didcot towards Reading. DMS 51396 was unique in that the cab front was replaced with that from a withdrawn class 116 car - hence the lack of a four character headcode box. 51396 spent the last few years of its life based at Bletchley for North London and Bedford line services.
