After reversal at Worcester Shrub Hill on 29 March 1986 class 119, identifiable by the red stickers denoting extra luggage space when used on trains to Gatwick Airport, set B596 (presumably 51076 + 59416 + 51099) was routed around the sharp curve towards Worcester Foregate Street and onward to Malvern and Hereford. The structure unfortunately only part-visible in the foreground is thought to be the remnants of a World War 2 air-raid shelter, complete with flue for a heating stove, for use by railway staff. ABirmingham to Hereford train is seen arriving at Worcester Shrub Hill on 29 March 1986. This time it is class 119 set B596 (51076 + 59416 + 51099) which will reverse in the platform. The driver has been a bit quick in changing the lights on the leading vehicle from white to red prior to coming to a halt. The small signal arm on the gantry was lowered to allow 08781 to leave the station a few minutes later to the site once occupied by the shed. Peter Tandy.

Closest is DMBC W51085 which was a recent addition to the set replacing 51070 which was withdrawn that month, and in the set number the 4 is a sticker over the 5 altering its previous formation of L585. A Class 119 on a Falmouth to Truro service waits to depart from the thankfully reinstated Docks station on 11/7/86. WR set 577 should be 51063 + 59422 + 51091, yet the vehicles were allocated to CF at the time, and had not been Plymouth vehicles since 1977. Stephen Burdett.
