Still carrying it's Etches Park set number, Scottish set 532 (53669 + 59796 + 51294) runs into Paisley Gilmour Street. It is a hybrid set with Class 120 DMS, Class 107 centre car and 105 DMBS at the rear. 1986. Andrew McConnell.

A Swindon class 120 DMU attracts the attention of the fitters at Edinburgh Waverley on 28th June 1987. There is a Class 08 attached to the far end, so it may have been shunted in after a failure. 53699 is closest, presumably with 59571 + 53658. Jonathan Hazan.

Back in the "anything goes" days it wasn't a surprise to see this lash-up on an Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy stopping service at Aberdour in August 1987. The two Swindon Cross-Country power cars started their life 20 years earlier at Cardiff as W50658 and W50699, while the Met Camm centre car spent most of its life in the North East as E59571. Kinking to Kinghorn. A Swindon Class 120 DMU (53658) enters Kinghorn Tunnel in August 1987 with an Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy stopping service. This tunnel was built by different contractors starting at each end and some miscalculation resulted in a distinct kink in the middle, very visible in the good old days from the front of a DMU and still causing a speed restriction.
