A Class 120 (C503, 50711 and presumably 59581 + 50658) and Class 101 (a TBS set) at Fairwood Junction on 18 August 1979. The formation is diverging from the avoiding line towards Westbury. With Cardiff Central on the destination blind it is probably a Weymouth to Cardiff service. Michael Mensing.

A class 120 / 101 dmu arrives at Troon with the 18.00 Glasgow Central - Ayr on 22-08-1986, as 47486 departs with the all first class 18.45 Ayr - Glasgow Central. This was formed of the 'Nightrider' train, which later in the evening formed an overnight service to London. It had earlier formed the 17.30 Glasgow Central - Ayr. Electric services started at the end of the following month. Although carrying set number 52 it is believed to be set 520 formed 53711 + 59046 + 53749. Gordon Thomson.
A Class 120/101/101 formation at Prestwick, circa August / September 1986. The DMBC seems to be missing a digit from its set number, Ayr had many 5xx sets at the time (the formations changed frequently). Note it also still has 'EP' under the left cab window, and it has oval buffers. Although carrying just set number 52, this is set 520 formed of 53711 + 59046 + 53749. Andrew McConnell.

A six-car Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU, with Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M53712 leading, was passing through Leyland station on the Up Slow with a Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria service on October 27th 1984. Martyn Hilbert.

A Class 120 set in Chester station on March 25, 1988. It is formed of two brake vehicles, meaning that it is parcels use, the only set remaining on this date was 53713 and 53703. Hamish Stevenson.
Chester allocated Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU set 510 comprising of cars M53713 & M53703 at Crewe on the 2nd April 1988. Now converted to parcels use, the Red Star parcels branding can just be seen down the side. By this time these units were thin on the ground and all had been withdrawn before the year was out. The new generation of DMU in the shape of 150 124 can be seen along side on a Derby service. Andrew J Crowther.
