Stourbridge Town station plays host to the usual Tyseley single car unit which is waiting to depart, in a cloud of smoke, for Stourbridge Junction. The splendid range of buildings will shortly be demolished as will the bridge framing this shot taken by by Peter Shoesmith on 19/05/1978. Geoff Dowling and John Whitehouse Collection.

TDB975310 - a Gloucester RC&W Class 122 'Bubble Car' in olive drab departmental livery at York depot on Sunday 28th May 1978. This 'Bubble Car', converted to a Route Learning Vehicle, was originally M55010. Taken with my basic Kodak Instamatic using 126 cartridge film. Chris McKee.

A Class 122 in Stourbridge Town station on 29/5/78. It was decided to demolish this lovely old station and replace it with a bus shelter. A new platform is being constructed and the line will be shortened! Stephen Burdett.

Bubble car 55009 is seen at Warrington Bank Quay on May 30th, 1978. Fitted with oval buffers, it was allocated to Tyseley at this time. Rex Holt.

A view across the traverser inside BREL Glasgow Works on the 3rd June 1978 finds Class 122 DMSL SC55007 undergoing refurbishment in between an unknown Class 107 and a Class 101 driving car. An Ayrshire based Class 126 DMSL driving vehicle is on the far right of the image. Bob Woolnough.

Hamilton, Glasgow based Class 122 DMBS SC55007 is inside BREL Glasgow Works on the 3rd June 1978 high up on accommodation bogies undergoing a major refurbishment with the plating around the original 2 panel route indicator clearly visible. Transferred to Departmental service in December 1983 as TDB977223 she was finally scrapped at BREL Glasgow Works during June 1991. Bob Woolnough.
