Class 126 Killoch 9 Oct 1982. The 'Ayrshire Wanderer' railtour was organised by the Swindon Preservation Society and used the same name as the previous year's BLS tour doing exactly what it said on the headboard. The class also remained in service for a bit longer than planned after the tour which had meant to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see the train at Killoch Colliery, it was formed 51043/59404/51026 + 51017/59411/51036. Alistair Ness.

It's Not Unusual. Perhaps, but it's a late Saturday afternoon and Swindon 126 413 has deposited a handful of passengers at Largs after arriving on a service from Glasgow Central. DMBSL Sc51043 is nearest the camera with DMSL Sc51017 recorded at the rear. TSL is presumably Sc59404. This is probably the reformed Set 413 (with DMSL swapped from the other remaining operational Set 406) prior to preservation. December 1982. alicia hartman.

On 5 January 1983 the final two Class 126 units are seen in Glasgow Central station. That date the six vehicles (SC51043 closest, the others being 51017, 51026, 51036, 59404 and 59411) were on Kilmacolm duties. That branch closed a few days a later and the Class 126s were withdrawn by the end of the month. Brian Daniels.

"Intercity 125" meets Intercity Class 126 DMU early on a spring morning in 1983 at Laurencekirk. The DMU had been hauled up from Thornton Yard in Fife attached to a Class 40 hauled freight. It would shortly leave BR metals, being craned onto flatbed trailers later in the day for the move to the Brechin railway. Andrew McConnell.

126 414 led by Sc51044 leaves Ayr for Girvan in 1981. 126 414 was one of the best condition 126 sets at the time, but was withdrawn in a cull of 8 complete sets in 8/82, leaving only 126 406 and 413 in service. Andrew McConnell.
