A run down a rundown platform. On 11th March 1978 the Branch Line Society ran the “South Humberside” railtour taking a DMU around some freight lines in the Doncaster area, then on to New Holland Pier then Louth. Here the train (E50632 visible) is seen after arrival at the now closed New Holland Pier station, the coal wagons alongside were to fuel the BR steam ferries to Hull Corporation Pier. The station closed 3 years later when the Humber Bridge was opened. Murray Liston.

DMU thrill at Rhyl. On 3rd June 1978 BR ran a Mystex from Edinburgh to Rhyl, a change from the usual destinations of Blackpool or Southport. At Rhyl I took this Instamatic shot of a DMU, with a Gloucester Cross Country class 119 substituting for one of the Park Royal class 103 cars. Murray Liston.

101 DMU

A Met-Camm triple DMU in North Queensferry station on 2 March 1968. Glasgow Queen Street is on the destination blind and it carries set number 209 which should make it a Dundee set. Both power cars have the revised lining, the centre car is still carrying the original style. Stuart Mackay Collection.

met-camm-lightweight DMU

No details came with this negative showing a Met-Camm "Lightweight" DMU. Aldeburgh is on the destination blind, a branch that lost its passenger service in 1966, the faded blue livery means it was taken after that. There is no driver and no tail lamp at this end, and no passengers visible. After withdrawal two sets were stabled to the east side of Leiston on the Aldeburgh branch for a rescue exercise, and these clues point to this being one of those sets. Stuart Mackay Collection.
