The very colourful Serco departmental unit comes off the North Cotswold line at Norton Junction at 13.30 on the 26th March 1998 presumably returning to Derby? 977391 and 977392 have the purpose built mk2f High Speed Track Recording Coach DB999550 between them, instead of the normal converted EMU car. With Turbo units increasingly common on Thames Valley lines, DMUs were in decline, but L263 (missing the L on the cab front) passes Aynho at 11.05 on the 8th July 1993 probably working from Oxford to Banbury? The vehicles are Class 108 DTSL 54495 paired with Class 104 DMBS 53540. Dave Gommersall.

A three-car and a four-car Class 101 form an empty stock move seen at Durham on Sunday 13 May 1979. The closest vehicle is E51495, which was transferred from South Gosforth to Reading in the week ending 20 May 1979, and this could be part of that move. The 5.00pm Edinburgh Princes Street - Glasgow Central makes its way through the Dalry area of the Edinburgh suburbs on 20 August 1965 formed of a Derby unit. The photographer is standing on Angle Park Terrace, nowadays the stone wall on the right remains, houses are built where the DMU is, and the W Approach Road enters the former railway line where the signal is, the road uses the track bed as far as the south end of the former Princes St station. No details were on this slide taken at Cholsey and Mouldsford, but the number of enthusiasts on the platform, and the 5A69 headcode on the Pressed Steel set, suggests this was taken on the 21 June 1969 when set 402 worked the Wallingford branch on the local carnival day. Stuart Mackay Collection.
